The students at ACD encounter broad and balanced learning experiences that have their roots in the American curriculum. There is a vertical alignment between the sections in our school to ensure a smooth transition between phases.

English is our language of instruction, and so all of our classes are taught in English. The one exception to this is our Albanian Language and Literature classes. These are mandatory for our native Albanian speakers, and form a part of their preparation for the national Matura exams. Over the course of their time with us, non-native Albanian speakers have the opportunity to learn the language of their new country!

Students for whom English is an additional language are supported to develop their English reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills with specialist English teachers in addition to their participation in their usual curriculum. Upon application to the school, candidates’ English language level will be assessed so that we can be sure we place them appropriately into a class.

In our Primary section, we provide a dynamic and engaging learning environment that builds on the solid foundation established in Early Years. Following a curriculum based on American standards, we emphasize academic excellence while nurturing the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. Our dedicated teachers create a supportive classroom atmosphere where students are encouraged to explore new concepts, develop their individual talents, and build confidence in their abilities. We focus on a well-rounded education, incorporating subjects like mathematics, science, language arts, social studies, and the arts, while fostering a love of learning and preparing our students for the challenges of the future.

Out of school trips compliment the learning from the classroom and stimulate further curiosity and inquiry, and after-school clubs support, develop and challenge our students to become more involved in school life; students have the option to choose the activities they are drawn to.

Book Week, Spirit Weeks, House Team games, Halloween and Christmas all offer a variety of activities that enrich the school experience for our young learners. From costume parades, visits by authors and fun House game challenges, there are many different opportunities to suit our young learners in our community.
